My Story
My story began a little over 11 years ago when my sister introduced me to Scentsy. I had never heard of it. (Shocking, I know.) But as soon as I attended her party and saw how awesome the products were, I was hooked. I had always loved the smell of candles, but I was one who would forget to extinguish them. Scentsy was right up my alley – safe, smelled great and was gorgeous.
She asked me to have a party at work for her and in a matter of days the party was up to $500! I couldn’t believe how much people loved this wickless candle thing. I continued to host parties and get my free and discounted product and was enjoying it that way. Being a consultant wasn’t even on the radar.
It wasn’t until I was having coffee with my sister and we were talking about the last party I had hosted for her when she suggested that I become a consultant. Me? A “salesperson”? Nah…I don’t think so. But my sister wouldn’t let it drop. As we talked more about it, it just made more sense. Besides, she was moving back to California soon and she needed someone to continue helping her customers here in Oklahoma. I thought about and figured, “hey, what can it hurt…I can make a few extra dollars and get discounted Scentsy”. Why not?
So on August 22, 2011 I signed up to be a Scentsy consultant. Little did I know this day was the beginning of a new adventure in my life. For several months I didn’t do much with my business. I kept my co-workers and myself stocked with bars and warmers. It wasn’t until I held my first home party for my cousin that I realized that I was a bona fide business owner. From that point on, it just clicked. I caught the “be my own boss” bug and I started focusing more on my business and I loved the results I was getting. My team grew. I met new people. I was able to quit my part-time job. I was receiving recognition from the home office. My business and customer service skills increased. I had something that was all my own.
Being a Scentsy consultant has been fun, exciting, and challenging - all rolled up in one. I have ventured outside of my comfort zone and I love it!
